We Are Robin #3

"Yeah, there need to be stakes. That's been done subtly in other ways in the book. I'm a stickler on showing damage. If kids get hit in the head — I think if any character gets hit in the head, you should see the damage that causes. I think it's important in general to not have violent actions in comics not be without the consequences that come with that action.
So I really want to show that doing this vigilante thing has consequences. And sometimes the price to be paid is pretty high." - Lee Bermejo

Picking up where we left off in the second issue, the Robins have located two time bombs being set to explode and take out some location. They call the "Nest", which turns out to be another girl part of the Robin movement, for some help...

Back on the surface, the homeless army is descending upon the people...

Meanwhile with the riot...

Robo Bat-Bunny shows up and defeats most of the homeless army, but...

Back with Duke and the others, they can't seem to defuse this other bomb (the wiring and mechanics seem different). As such, The Nest sends for them a subway car to pick them up and get them out before the bomb blows. However...

And so our comic ends with this...

"The Nest must go to them."
More later...

Date: 2015-11-04 12:17 am (UTC)The hook hand, I wonder about too.. I mean can't he just get a mechanical hand , with the money he has,one of the robins, or heck the Justice League help out. I mean, Cyborg could get him a robotic hand.

Date: 2015-11-04 12:27 am (UTC)I'm curious to see whether this book gets remember after Bruce Wayne's inevitable return, or if it'll just get swept under the rug. I feel like outfitting a bunch of untrained teens and sending them out to fight crime is the kind of thing that Batman would not approve of, so there could be some drama there.

Date: 2015-11-05 01:46 am (UTC)And Babs/Jason/Tim's reactions definitely had priority, since their roles were actually integral to the plot of said issue. As much sentimental value Alfred's role would have had, other considerations need to be taken into account, like page allotment, plot twist explanation, etc.
