With my recent deluge of entries on different DC series, I was considering posting some of Lobo. But... nah. I'm just going to keep on doing entries on good and underrated series. I think it's better than what I usually posted before :)

I still don't understand why DC thought that stripping irony out of Lobo was a good idea. This title feels beyond out of place with the rest DCYou direction.

I thought New Lobo was suppose to be the irony of what was considered cool in the 2000's. The slim , young , and bishouen look?

That's what I thought too when I first saw the design, and it could actually work really well, but no. From what I can tell it's played dead straight. I think Cullen Bunn's actually gone on record that DC told him explicitly that this series wasn't to be tongue in cheek or overtly humorous.

Well...damn...that's all New Lobo had going for me. Seriously what goes on at these DC meetings? Like who really grew up asking for a book in which Lobo was played as a completely serious bounty hunter, but with none of his humor ? Even if you didn't get the irony of his character, you were still suppose to see him as a humorous character. DC, you have failed your franchise.

No kidding. Looking at all of the DC books currently, this is basically the odd man out and the only title I could see being grim and gritty for the sake of being that (besides maybe Suicide Squad, but with Tim Seeley on the way to take over, all will be well with title if he is given space to do his magic). The other darker titles at least have something to them where they be character pieces like Sinestro or something else like Prez or Gotham After Midnight.

Wait, a Red Lantern's weakness is his heart? I thought they didn't need their hearts. Wasn't that a major plot point when the Black Lanterns appeared, that the Red Lanterns could survive getting their hearts torn out, because their rings pumped their rage-blood for them?
