How they would admit a child without informing his parents is beyond me, BUT this is peanuts where the grown ups are always unseen so I let it slide...





LOVE the heartrate monitor going off in the background!...Word gets around that Chuck's in the hospital, Linus calls Sally for updates and she's just as clueless about what's going on. Peppermint Patty and Marcie try to visit...





Soon Charlie Brown wonders why no one has come to see him and feels lonely...Snoopy to the rescue!








Guilt gets to Lucy and she actually shows a rare moment of kindness...





Charlie Brown is released, and Lucy keeps her word to give him a fair shot to actually kick the football...which didn't go too well.

This is adapted from a 1979 storyline in the original newspaper strip. Not a bad job here, given the strong source material, but I think Schulz's pacing in the original is better.

I've never liked Lucy. If I were Charlie Brown I think I'd have aimed for her head after about the 4th time she pulled the ball away at the last second.

Ah, a fellow fan! Lovely. Yes, it is a shame - I think as much as Acker & Blacker have long-admired the world of comics, they've still got to polish their style a bit. As you'd expect from radio writers, it's still a bit dialogue-heavy.
