I still have reservations about the movie, but this is certainly one of the best trailers ever. This ranks right up there with that fan-made trailer for the first Expendables. o.0
Kind of sad that an off-shoot thing like this looks better than a tentpole movie like BvS.
I just wish Joker didn't look so ridiculous. It's fine for a movie like this I suppose but this is going to be the Joker that's going up against Batfleck and he's going to be so out of place.
This, and I don't think Joker even matches up to the Squad that well visually, to be honest. I actively like the look of the other characters mostly - they seem to have Deadshot's mask down from the look of things and Harley is a decent enough compromise given we were never going to get the classic version - but Joker just screams 'angry teenager'.
I'm also kind-of dubious that they're showing this much about the film - given we had the previous, pretty lengthy teaser - when it doesn't come out for another seven months, but then they've done the same thing with BvS.
Indeed. My interest continues to lag in the "mainstream" DC flicks, but it slowly ticks up for stuff like this. I don't expect to be obsessed about it like Marvel, but it could be a fun romp.
I mean, I thought the bit where the General told off Supes for crashing the satellite was kind of funny.
Swanwick: ARE YOU EFFIN' STUPID?! Superman: One of your surveillance drones. Swanwick: That's a twelve-million dollar piece of hardware! Superman: It was.
Man, I did not expect to love that trailer as much as I did. Both Robbie and Smith look really good in their roles and I kind of like how whenever we see Joker something seems off with him. I don't mean bad character off, more like that if you saw this guy on the street, you would just feel the chills.
Better than I expected, but then Bat vs Supes: Dawn of Dawn of Justice League Setup Movie #1 has really lowered my expectations drastically when it comes to DC. It'd be hard to be worse than I expected, unless they put in surly Aquaman instead of fun Aquaman. Still not convinced by Chad the Joker Fratboy though. I know the Joker is a monster clown, but DC seems to have the perfect knack for forgetting the "clown" part is there for a reason.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that B vs. S is going to be a bomb. I just hope it doesn't tank too badly to impact the Wonder Woman movie next year. I'd like to see that sink or swim on its own merits, not be tied to a sinking ship. Though maybe if they did do more shipping than fighting, the B vs. S movie might be more appealing! :)
The choice of Bohemian Rhapsody was kind of inspired. Really looking forward to this film, Leto Joker and all.
I think that it's interesting that DC seems to be letting each director make their respective films in their own style (Man of Steel was weighed down by the Nolans being attached, BvS seems more like a Zack Snyder film, while Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad also seem very different from each other, from what we've seen thus far).
Kind of differs them from the Marvel film canon, where despite each of the films technically being different genres (the Incredible Hulk being a monster film, the first Cap movie being a classic Indiana Jones adventure etc.)... they're all kind of the same.
Hell, It's pretty sad that DC have have women and people of colour as superheroes/villains in ONE MOVIE than Marvel have in their entire canon, isn't it.
For months now Suicide Squad has been the one superhero movie which I'm actually looking forward to, based on the sheer novelty and my boredom with the MCU, and this trailer really did live up to my hopes for the film.
I don't even care if it's good, I just want it to be bizarre and violent and fresh. So far, it looks like I'll get what I want.
the song choice is awesome, and tbh this is the first trailer I've seen that actually makes me think it's a movie worth seeing, but I just. can't. get past. Leto as the Joker. I can't do it. I can't.

Date: 2016-01-20 03:34 am (UTC)Still not feeling Will Smith as Deadshot, but who knows how that will go...
Not particularly enjoying the whole "evil is cool" vibe I'm getting, either...
Will still end up watching this.
