I was under the impression a "Absolute Monarchy" was a form of Dictatorship

One hardly expects the "King", who inherited his title and powers rather than earned them, to fight for Freedom and Justice.

In the second issue (previously posted), he told his fellow refugees at Ellis Island he was no longer their ruler and that American democracy is the way to go.

Heh heh. I think he's now using it as more of a superhero name. Same reason he still goes around in that (already antiquated by the 40s) regal getup. It's his shtick! Well, that and the golem he totes around.
