"It wasn't worth it."

I said the same thing after reading Civil War.

Everyone except Quesada and the higher-ups at Marvel, who apparently think it was the Best Story Ever.

Not gonna like, this made me despise Tony even worse.

If a character does something shitty, I don't ever want to hear about how hurting other people hurt his own fee-fees. Attempts to make me sympathize with a character by portraying them as a victim because their own horrible actions against other people eventually bit them in the ass as emotional trauma have a tendency to backfire spectacularly and make me think "karma is only a bitch if you are."

Then you must despise Doc Ock...I don't disagree with btw

Only if you think the story tried to pretend Doc Ock stopped being a villain.

Wasn't that the case though?

Ultimately? no. it was Peter's remain of his... whatever that ghost was... that kept Ock a Hero. once Ock got rid of him, Spock is just a villain who thinks he is a hero. his last moments are a reflexion of this, he is not saying the same as tony that he was "doing the right thing" and willing to live with the price. he is saying "i was never a hero to begin with". it's also why he erases his memories from Peter's memories, because they would be little more than distractions to Peter and a proof that he not only was honest about wanting "to do the right thing" only to discover he was wrong all along, he is also taking responsibility for the chaos that he created.

I don't think that's fair. There are some good characters and stories (in my opinion) where one's poor behaviour ends up harming others hence "fee-fees" (like Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed, Earl Hickey from My Name Is Earl, etc.).

Didn't Edward inadvertently kill his wife or something like that?

No, goodness no! She died of unrelated circumstances. Edward's problem was that he was greedy and selfish, and came to realise that all the treasure he'd plundered and spent most of his life fantasising over "wasn't worth it" compared to the love and camaraderie with his friends and Family, which at that point in the story were all either dead or had abandoned him.

Agreed.

It'd have been marginally better if the very next installment didn't put him as the head of SHIELD, manfully feeling sorry for himself while continuing the entire mess and profiting massively from it.

If you're really sorry, if it really wasn't worth it, then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. FIX THIS MESS YOU'VE MADE.

He also had Carol Danvers and an Avengers team still relentlessly hunting down the former members of Cap's side immediately after this, as well as anyone who tried to give them sanctuary. (And he is extremely lucky that Bendis was in the midst of nerfing Dr. Strange when that story ran, or he might be running in a wheel in some pet shop display case at this very moment.)

If they do this scene in the film there will not be a dry eye in the theater...
