... so... we're supposed to care about this pairing, right?
'cuz if we are, it's not doing anything.

And Medusa isn't being insufferably smug. So I'm completely at a loss as to how to react to her.

(psst, Medusa: The appeal is the John Williams score. It makes the prequels more tolerable.)

I have liked other Medusa parings. This one just seems to lack any chemistry at all. Hell I like that random guy hitting on her at the bar way back when she and BB first split better than this.

Retcon Punch had this and more to say about this issue:

"The pairing of Johnny and Medusa seemed pretty random to me at first, but this issue truly sold me on them as a couple. Medusa and Johnny were both background characters in their respective organizations, dismissed by some as shallow or one-note. Getting a chance to step out in the spotlight has helped both characters to grow, and they owe much of that growth to each other. Medusa gave Johnny direction in one of his darkest hours, while Johnny provided Medusa real human connection when she needed it the most. This relationship is exactly what they need right now — and perhaps for quite a long time to come? We’ll see."

And I tend to agree with it. The one before last scan really sells it. I think for members of this community to appreciate the change they should also have read the entire series.

I haven't read the entire series and I can still appreciate a powerful moment between two characters.

My reaction was aimed more at people who are not feeling the chemistry.

This works for me.

Relationships don't need to be forever and ever to be real. Sometimes they're a momentary connection, one that both people needed at the time. Medusa and Torch seemed like one of those.

I could see Medusa going for Johnny after breaking up with Black Bolt to be honest. Black Bolt is perhaps the most rigidly self-controlled, least demonstrative person in the MU, a man whose least grunt of pain or pleasure will wipe out everyone and everything within miles.

There are a lot of places where that level of self control will shine, but the bedroom isn't one of them.

Medusa doesn't actually know a lot of people who isn't a subject of her husband.

It works for me that once out of her relationship with Bolt, she went for the most hot-headed, passionate, least self-controlled, fun, men she knows.

This issue actually sold me on the relationship.

Though it still kind of feels like Johnny is dating his ex's mom (I know Medusa is Crystal's sister, but still, she comes off more like her mom).
