The first poster for next years Wonder Woman movie has been released

Power. Grace. Wisdom. Wonder.
Now these are principles I can get behind!

Meanwhile artists Joe Phillips, whose work I have happily featured before, has been putting together some faux film posters from the 40's onwards...

Pam Grier as Wonder Woman is, of course, perfection and Adrian Barbeau as Cheetah and Michael Sarazzin as Steve Trevor.

James Stewart without being able to use that trademark drawl... quite a challenge, but I have no doubt he'd have managed it.

Casting a Caucasian guy as the Mandarin would have been par for the course back in the day, I'm sure they'd never do such an insensitive thing these day... ooooh.... oops.

This one in particular is AWESOME... Redford as Cap works fine, and Cushing as the Red Skull would have been mesmerising.

Not always a DeNiro fan, but Palance as the Joker would have been something to see.
And this one seems almost too obvious...

Judging by the outfit, and comments elsewhere, Sophia would be playing Blackstarr, the living embodiment of the Unified Field Theory.
And some late additions

Danny Kaye as a Silver Age Joker would work rather well, and I can imagine he'd do the odd lapse into complete psycho rather well.

Date: 2016-07-23 10:22 pm (UTC)The poster specifically references one of the plays they perform in the story, "Because of Love..." which is basically a pastiche of Rose of Versailles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNX_-vpuxME (here performed live by the voice actors)

Date: 2016-07-23 03:34 am (UTC)But yeah, you'd think maybe Clark would've already had a sanctity for life. Since MoS (more like PoS, am I right?!) came out, I've thought of several ways they could've handled things. Hell, you could STILL have the neck snap and make it work. You'd have to make sure you EARN it, though, for the audience. My ideal Superman should never kill, but if it absolutely must be in there, there are better ways of writing that.

Date: 2016-07-23 08:21 am (UTC)But then along comes Snyder saying this...
"I really thought he should kill Zod, and the why of it is this... If this is truly an origin story, his aversion to killing is unexplained; it's just in is DNA. And I thought we needed to have him do something, just like him putting on glasses and going to the Daily Planet, or any of the other things you're seeing him do for the first time that you then realize will become his thing."
AND THAT spoiled me on the scene, and which is why I often avoid commentaries even though I'm very interested in the how of the craft.

Date: 2016-07-23 07:32 am (UTC)I had a lot of issues with Batman Vs Superman, but Wonder Woman wasn't one of them. They've got a great actress portraying a great character - and if it's done right, it could be really sad to see her abandon the world after living through the horrors of two world wars, and seeing how messed up the world with.
Given the difficult times we now live in, I am sure many audience members will understand her reasoning, and feel a great stab of pity for her.
