Ah, the old "moral inversion means that the hero is now going to be a more effective bad guy than the bad guy who triggered the moral inversion" ploy... (Shades of Rhinox in that Beast Wars episode)
Wait, you mean Hydra are the Natives, and Cap's the Great White Hope who's going to be more Native than they are so he can save them? He's practically the Avatar of Hydra! ;-)
As Elseworlds/What-If stories go, I think this might have worked. As kinda-sorta continuity, um, well... nice to Red Ghost getting work again!
After seeing what Cap did to the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes, I'm just... y'know, I could tolerate what was going on as long as I thought Cap's inherent moral qualities were still in place, but he's racking up some serious blood on his hands.
But heck, the Red Ghost and the Apes have gotten better from worse in the past.
Not for any of the reasons it would annoy a sane person. (killing off a C-List villain, staining Steve's hands, the solicit that was an outright lie, the tie in cover that was an outright lie.)
No, I'm annoyed because this book retcon'd Quasar's powerset in a way that directly contradicted his book.
I think this qualifies me officially as a grumpy old comic fan. :)

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
