Ultimate Fallout: Spider-Man No More

'Ultimate Fallout' was a miniseries that dealt with the aftermath of Spider-Man's death. There were a number of different artists and writers on this but I'm going to mainly focus on the elements that are related to Spider-Man as there was also a lot of tertiary stuff that was mainly set-up for other titles.

One of the things I found unfortunate was that we never saw Kong's reaction to Peter's death as Bendis had put him on a bus. Bendis rectified this somewhat by having him show up in #200 at the party to remember Peter but it's still a glaring absence in my opinion.

#5 didn't have anything relating to Spider-Man so I'm ignoring it.

It was great how much one person's death affected so many people

As much as the Ultimate Universe suffered by trundling on too long, and it had some real gems in its day and this was definitely one of them. The emotion here was handled well. Steve, even asshole Ultimate Steve, in tears apologizing for the death of Peter struck a chord, and Nick coming clean to Mary Jane about his genuine affection for Peter and for his guilt over his death was very striking.

I'm glad this story gave us Miles, and though I wish some of these characters had bowed out at this point. I can't think of much positive that came of the Ultimates after this, for one.

And I wish Bendis hadn't walked back the death by bringing back Peter later for no reason.

Yeah I think Gwen and May going to France was as solid an exit as any.

Although I still say the biggest mistake was killing off Pete to begin with.

I do like how Ultimate Spider Man consistently rubbed the Ultimate Universe's own assholishness in it's face.

It's not even that Ultimate Spider Man himself was the moral core of the continuity, it's more like he was banging on the walls trying to get out.

Huh. I didn't know Miles made an appearance before his own series. I thought he just made a small cameo without the costume.

Weird thought: Has Bendis written for 616 Spider-Man? I don't mean Miles, I mean the original Peter Parker.

If not... why not? If he could bring us a Peter Parker like his Ultimate Spider-Man (but older and maybe a little wiser?) in the 616 universe... I don't know, it seems like that would just be good stuff.

Yeah they were on the X-titles and they showed up during events such as the Galactus crossover.

That scene with May and the kid outside of the church is probably my favorite comic panel of all time. It just hits me right in the feelings
