I feel like I should point out, while I don't buy one iota of Dooms nobility (except that he is classist, I guess) and do consider it horeshit, I do definitely understand why people DO.
Looks to me like he did the old swich-the-minds trick, then used Reed's elasticity to fake some disfigurement, so the rest of the FF would understand why Reed's personnality became darker since they came back from Hell.
I was actually surprised when I heard Waid was liberal, because this "faith is more important than science" stuff sounds more like something someone right-wing would write.
I didn't say that, just that the whole story was about Reed not being able to save the day until he stopped trying to use science and knowledge and put his faith in a higher power. It's usually the right wingers who put more stock in faith than science.
That and the black and white morality Waid has with Doom.
Wow. So because of how Waid rwrote this story, you think you understand and can assume some ones politics? How on earth does the way he wrote Doom imply hes a right winger in any way?
People who are right-wing tend to see things in black and white. Bad guys are bad, end of story. It's why they're more likely to support the death penalty.
And like I said, it wasn't just his treatment of Doom, it was also the 'faith vs reason' that played out in the storyline.
