That's not the case, since he does want to use AIM for good. Their first arc is also about helping Captain America/Dani Cage defeat the Gold Skull.
And not only that, but all of the members get introductions like this and Squirrel Girl wouldn't be lying about something like this. Plus most of the team are immigrants, or daughter of an immigrant in Toni's case.
Sorry if my earlier comment wasn't too clear, Hood: of course they want to do good, and Ewing's built up the characters as heroes through and through, so there's no doubt about it.
But we also saw how things turned out when everyone thought they were bad guys, and how the team had to maneuver inside and around SHIELD to earn a definite measure of trust (also, how AIM was "ended").
That's what I was referring as long-term scheming -- while they're seemingly working "within" the system, they play in a not-so-conventional way, thinking outside the box, something Marvel-U's government agencies seem to be sorely lacking about. Outsmarting them if need be, too.
Now, the introductions? I'm sure Ewing's not going for straight-up jingoism, we saw how the American Kaiju arc made short work of that. The immigrant angle might just have more weight, as you noted.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
