You haven't seen Thirst, aka The Best Transformers Episode Ever Made? Fix that at once! Even if you never watched or liked Transformers Prime, that episode is well worth watching on its own :D

Ah, Infestation. It was such a quick little skippable plot on the TF end, they show up (while the TFs are mysteriously in Vegas for unknown reasons) and only get two issues. Though it's definitely in-continuity as it's how Kup ends up in the Dead Universe.

When did this even take place? I'm trying to remember a point when this particular group was together.

It was during the same period as the 'Heart of Darkness' story, not long before the big event stuff with Galvatron in chaos and all that. Hence Galvatron's crew showing up (him acting 'Optimus! We can only do this together, so submit and obey me,' is something of a rehash of how he acts in the main comic).
