He started doing magic in the second volume of All-New X-Men.

Yeah, there was some team-up with Doctor Strange where Beast figured out that magic (at least as he perceives it) has a lot of similarities with science. Clarke's law in reverse.

In the previous All-New X-Men series Beast also dabbled in a lot of magic with terrible consequences and then they managed to visit what looked like their past with his magic.

This is going to be part of a larger plot. Being able to send someone through hell that easily is powerful magic.

I think that Beast's magic form will come back into play sooner or later.

No, I meant his magic Beast form. When Madelyne Prior attacked them last volume, he used magic to become a white-furred beast with magic and saved the day. Then, we saw him become this when the 05 went to visit the past. I suspect that it will come back this volume, and maybe become a permanent part of him.

I stand corrected, and somewhat confused that they'd start giving one of the major science people in the MU magical powers as well, as those two rarely mix well unless you're going fro some sort of technomancer type powers.

On the other hand, if it gives Beast a Sailor Moon transformation sequence, I could live with it. :)
