With such a loving, caring father, it's no wonder Reed's first stop on his trip into villainy was killing the man. Almost would've been just desserts if Reed hadn't killed the rest of them at the same time.
(Not that Bendis ever explained any of that... Kind'a wondering if "Reed turns evil" was Bendis' endgame from the start. If only in a vague sense of "what I'd like to do".)
How is it that this Reed showing his world changing device at a high school science convention with some guy from a government think tank just happening to be there still come across as way more believable than the Josh Trank movie?
Given all the geniuses in the Marvel universes, a number of them teen geniuses, I imagine government types hang out at high school science fairs all the time.
You could argue sending individual agents to monitor middle school science fairs isn't the most efficient way to identify teen geniuses, versus, say, standardized testing scores or paying attention to gifted programs.
It's a hell of a lot less silly than the head of the project just happening to be there, though.
at some point I wish we discovered that Reed was the result of an affair. They could have done some reality TV thing where secrets of superheroes are revealed and Reed's mom confesses. When asked who Reed's father was
"His name was Nathanial. I knew him for a few weeks before we started the affair. I told him I was pregnant. He reacted really strangely. He just smiled and said not to worry that everything was going to be okay. And that was the last time I saw him."
