but still... how is bruce alive? more so, what is bruce doing in Vanishing Point, I mean Steve makes sense if you think that he was split off in two components lets say, "Letter of the law steve and spirit of the law steve". But Rhodey, Bruce, Rick, and Bucky are deadish.... how can Bruce be in vanishing point and here at the same time... also, whos the old man? Old Man Steve? I just don't get it... juvenile sentient cosmic cubes with daddy issues aside....

Also, what's the point of Tony being currently dead/comatose if he is still the protagonist? His AI replacement offers no difference in capabilities, character or proactiveness? That's the perfect example of "having your cake and eating it, too"

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this event if Marvel and Spencer just admit this is a heroes vs. modern day Nazis event. Just cut the BS already.

I think Holo Tony is a compromise made between two writers: Bendise, who wanted Tony sidelined for Civil War II and get Riri into play (And also to forward the theory that an emasculated Tony Stark is then supplanted by a group of women in his own book, thus making "Iron Man" an ironic title.) and Spencer needing a Tony Stark-any Tony Stark-to forward this silly, silly series.

I've said this before, but there's a long tradition in sci-fi/cyberpunk of electronic beings hooking up on cyberdrugs. That makes every sense, since stimulating their pleasure-centers would be both easy and tempting. Given that AI Tony's personality is modeled on Tony's, it's natural that it would be tempted by virtual intoxication; and it's only fitting that this intoxication would take the visual form of "drunkeness", if nothing else for the visual poetics of it.

I agree that AI Tony's existence is a case of having-your-cake-itis, as in in general Marvel's refusal to just let their classic characters go, marry, age, die, rest. That's the elephant-in-the-room problem with the "legacy" characters: Ruri, Jane, Miles, Sam, Laura etc. were all wonderful characters well-deserving of taking up their respective mantles, and I'm very happy they exist; but the whole time all of us knew that they'd never really be allowed to actually take the mantles, because the Marvel world is condemned to be immutable. Best you can hope is for extra mantles; but that relegates the new characters to the role of extras.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't want to see the classic characters go. Part of the reason I like comics is the characters will always be there. The passage of time has little interest to me.

having a bigger canvas to work with doesn't automatically make the work you are doing good, it just means that it is bigger.

this is why I have given up on 90% of comics, and just read them here.
