Is Bruce described as being strong-willed? Usually, his resistance to psionics is written as an insurmountable "wall of anger," not a function of will.
Yes. Almost everytime time he has to deal with Scarecrow. Or Poison Ivy in her seductive pheromones days. Or Hugo Strange when he's doing his mind games thing.
Whoa, total brain fart. I read "Bruce" and thought "Banner" instead of "Wayne." No idea why-- this is a discussion entirely about Batman, and Hulk isn't even remotely associated with him. Whoops.
Anyway, totally agree Bruce Wayne is associated with willpower. One wonders why a GL doesn't lend Bruce a ring and have him fix everything, ever.
But that gets back to my earlier point: young Bruce is having a tantrum here, not demonstrating willpower. The willpower approach-- the Batman approach-- to encountering an obstacle is to methodically try every possible avenue of overcoming it. Maybe the ring can put Chill 30,000 feet up, or in outer space, or in front of a train, or phase him into the ground, etc. Maybe it can pick up something heavy and drop it on Chill. Maybe it can lure deadly creatures to Chill. Etc.
Young Bruce is whining about wanting something noooooow. That's not nearly as dangerous as the guy who will patiently and persistently use every stratagem in his considerable arsenal to take you down.

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
