That's a surprisingly cunning and genre savvy Sherrif that town has, normally they're the one's telling the kids not to be so daft as to suggest that vampires are real.

Yes... although given that we never see him find an exsanguinated corpse, or sees them with the wings out until maybe just the end there, not sure how he jumped to "vampires," specifically.
