Robbie isn't blinded by hatred of Spider-Man like Jonah is. If he has figured it out, and I think he has, he might keep quiet out of friendship with Peter and the realization that blabbing about it puts an even bigger target on the backs of those people around him.
Plus, if he reports the "true identity of Spider-Man" and is wrong, he just killed a kid he's known for years at worst and ruined his life at best.
It does remind me of a scene in Hush, where Batman thinks that Perry is way too good a reporter to not suspect anything about Clark, which gets him thinking about how good a cop Jim Gordon is.
I recall one scene from a Batman comic where Jim is chewing out Batman for not respecting him and always leaving him hanging mid sentence and other stuff, so Bruce takes his mask off, and Jim (Who has his back turned). Tells Batman to put the mask on and if he wanted to know who he really was he could have found out by now on his own.
I think Jim DOESN'T want to know, because if he did know who Batman was he'd be obligated to hold him accountable for all the rules bending Batman tends to do in the course of his job.
In "Spider-Man 2," Bill Nunn played Robbie like "I know you're really Spider-Man, Peter. Let's not make it a big deal." Actually, that's also how Rosemary Harris played Aunt May.
Losing the company sucks, but hey, having a full editor position is not a bad job! I'm glad they aren't going to 'Parker's life sucks and it's so hard to make ends meet,' and are instead going, 'ok, he's not going to have all these resources anymore but he's still going to have a responsible adult job.'
You know, with Spidey's sound moral core and sense of responsibility, I think we'll see a renewed sense of ethics in-- *promptly gets thrown out a window*
(I also kind of love that they think newspaper journalism is a stable, livable job. Like, oh, bless you.)
Of "a steady job in newspaper journalism" and "web-slinging, wall-crawling spider-hero with super-senses", I think the latter fantasy is probably more likely at this point. ;)
I do actually think that makes it a pretty good Peter Parker job, because it allows some sense of progression and stability while still allowing him to be a character who realistically would have very mundane concerns about finances and his future. Which makes it an odd contrast after Slott did the whole Parker Industries thing and made Peter Parker so hard to relate to.
This is the third or so new status quo that Slott has brought in for Spider-Man. I'm not saying that someone else should take over the book now, but I'm not not saying it.
