Only one ship? Aren't you forgetting about a certain cousin of yours, Superman? Also, it kinda cheapens Flash's powers if Superman can just use the Cosmic Treadmill in the same way.
I gotta ask, how many dogs do you suppose Jor-El sent up in rockets before he sent Kal-El? did the Kryptonian equivalent of the ASPCA put him on a watch list, because he would go in to the humane society and get half a dozen dogs every week? "No no, you don't understand. I'm not running a dog fighting ring, I'm sending them into space in rockets!" Maybe the upcoming SYFY channel series will answer that question.
Actually, most of the time it has been a speed force thing--or at least a Flash-specific thing, because it has Flash-specific explanations. Pre-Crisis, the Treadmill helped Flashes tune their molecular vibrations to different eras and universes, and then they relaxed their vibrations to return home. (It worked this way for a while Post-Crisis as well, until John Fox upgraded the treadmill.) When post-Zero Hour Wally West and other speedsters time traveled under their own power, it was by a different mechanism; they entered the Speed Force when they broke lightspeed and then skimmed along its surface to travel the timestream.
Either way, not really something you'd expect a Kryptonian to be able to duplicate...though Superman has occasionally mentioned picking up molecular vibration tricks from the Flash, so I suppose it might be possible.
Unless it's been retconned, Kara's whole home city (Argo) got blasted away on an intact fragment of Krypton and she was only launched off in a rocket at a later point.
Pretty sure Argo City surviving the death of Krypton isn't in continuity anymore. It hasn't shown up since New52.
Kara's origin (comics and television) these days is that she left Krypton as a teen the same time Kal did, but reached Earth later because of timey-wimey.
It's been a few iterations since I paid attention, but I don't think Argo City rocketed away, I think it was just left intact on one of the chunks that went flying away,
"Oh no, it looks like there's been some disruption to time itself just when Krypton blew up.
Just let me use this cosmic treadmill (that I don't think I've ever been able to actually use because my powers are different from the Flash's) to time travel to just when Krypton blew up... that's not any sort of foreshadowing self fulfilling paradox or anything, is it? Nah, of course not"
He hasn't ever under his own power post-Crisis, has he? My impression was this iteration of Superman is still working with the more realistically-scaled power set established in Byrne's run (i.e., his top flight speed can make it to the sun and back in about 90 minutes).
Because there wouldn't have been a Krypton if he tried. Also, this situation of Supes trying to fix what happened to Krypton reeks of Flashpoint, where fixing the tragedy could result in something worse, such as Krypton being ruled by a military dictatorship run by Zod and the like.
