Oh for the love of... Bendis, stop using 'oh look, they're immortal somehow' as a plot point! Especially with monsters that will never stop being monsters!
So? Tie him to something heavy and throw him into the deepest part of the ocean! Throw him in a volcano! Cut him into pieces and spread him across the world! Dig a hole in an asteroid and push him in it! Being immortal makes things worse!
Why not banishment to the part of the Dark Dimension inhabited by the Mindless Ones? His power wouldn't do squat to them and he'd spend the rest of his days dodging creatures that are effectively the non-sentient love children of the Hulk and Cyclops.
Eh, an amateur stage magician with a stopwatch on a chain could take mental control of the Sentry, I don't think getting him in the same zip code as the Purple Man would be a good idea.
I suspect someone like Loki or Kaluu could either get around that or find a way to make it a horrible curse rather than a blessing with relatively little effort.
I suppose the Purple Man is at least smarter than Bendis' other pet villain, the Hood, who went on a spree antagonizing Dr. Strange and a bunch of other magicians with less power but also less compassion and far fewer qualms about poetic revenge. (How at least Daimon Hellstrom hasn't delivered the latter to his richly deserved final fate is a big honking contrived mystery to me...)
Idk if he’s really a pet villain; he only really appeared in Bendis’s writing with the original Alias and now this. Besides that he showed up for a few pages in New Avengers to get punched out by Luke and in DD: End of Days where Punisher shot him.
I suppose he occupies that headspace for me because he's such an iconic villain for Bendis' stories dealing with Jessica Jones. He hasn't appeared so many times that I want to get a restraining order against a fictional character like I do with the Hood.
