"I hadn't thought about [any similarity] until you mentioned it; now I'm completely terrified. If people feel it's like Astro City, then it's going to feel like Astro City, but they are very different ideas. They both feature a city that has a lot of superheroes in it, like from what I know of Astro City, Kurt Busiek has created a city that perhaps is like a more populous version of Metropolis. It's a normal city which has a higher than average rate of costumed crime fighters. Top 10 has a different feel - the book is about the sheer ridiculousness of having nobody but super heroes. There are no normal characters in Top 10 at all, so I don't see why they should be compared other than they both feature a city." - Alan Moore

This issue has my second-favorite* Top Ten quote: "Nobody move in a mysterious way!"

*Second because the absolute best quote comes later in the Commissioner Ultima fight.

My favourite is one of the bits of grafitti;

"One god, Sun god
Ra! Ra! Ra!"

I just realized: didn't Grant Morrison include an earth where everyone and everything is a super-hero in Multiversity?

Earth-48, which is loosely based on the pre-Crisis (although only introduced IN Crisis) Earth Six, and seems to have combined it with the Inhumans.

I wonder if the Seven Sentinels stuff comes from Moore's souring towards DC that eventually led him to completely abandon ABC. Even though I've lost interest in League of Extroardinary Gentlemen over time, I do look forward to reading the final book because it's going to have a superhero section and I expect something in a similar vein to this. If Moore's going to be channeling all his current negative feeling towards the genre and its publishers, it should be interesting.

Also, anyone find the final page joke to be in really bad taste? "Haha, she's getting groped and she doesn't realize it!"

Incidentally, the two civilian victims of the Ghostly Ghost described in previous issues were a woman getting out of a checkered cab and a woman flying over a railway station. We can assume the Goose was disguised as the cab or part of it, but how does the railway station tie into the checker theme? My guess is that Moore got his British/American culture mixed up. Railway station workers wave checkered flags in the UK, but I'm not aware of any such practice in the US.

Not sure I see why flying over a railway station would have anything to do with being groped in the air over it?

Plus nobody has waved a checkered flag for commercial trains in the UK for decades AFAIK. We use paddle shaped things

Well, I'm assuming the GG is a play on Plastic Man, as a guy who turns into objects but maintains a distinctive coloration and visual pattern. He'd be able to stretch.

As for the flags being outdated, I got nothing. But I can't think of a better explanation.

The Godz Bar may be my favorite part of Top 10.
It has another nice moment in the sequel written by Di Filippo

Alan Moore has a right to his feelings about Marvel and DC.

But regarding Marvel, I don't know what those feelings are. Can anyone explain "Here's why Alan Moore is mad at Marvel"?

I heard it was due to editorial oversight with Captain Britain and making them change "Marvelman" to "Miracleman".

Might be more to it, just repeating grievances I've personally heard about.
