This comes out the same month they put out a fantastic issue of their women-creator anthology Arya.
They beautiful, breathtaking works. And then they have cheaply made fad cashouts. They do a lot of one-shots and also what I believe is the longest running current title by a single creator (Fred Perry's Gold Digger just hit 250).
Even in their fad stuff, it can be like, "pretty steampunk stories with good art," or "ok zombie stuff," or "this."
I'm reminded of Dave Chappelle stating that Trump is kind of bad for comedy (as in, the jokes wear thin quickly and we're not even done with his first year as president).
I know... it's part of why I stalled for over a year (and counting!) with the latest post on my Batman review blog. It's an election episode, so Trump jokes are mandatory, but... what can I say that people smarter and funnier haven't said a hundred times already?
It really is. A major tool of satire is to exaggerate something to the point of absurdity, but baseline Trump is already absurd. With most people, boasting about penis size or entertaining action hero fantasy is left as subtext.
Colbert seems to using an interesting strategy of ignoring the obvious, though. His response to Trump's claiming he would have run into a school with an active shooter was to question if Trump can run.
Meh.. Trump parodies have been done to death at this point. And the actual art isn't very impressive either. Most of the backgrounds are clearly photos with some kind of comic-filter added to them.
