It followed from the first.
More than one hundred years after the Battle of Yavin, galactic power was in the hands of a triumvirate.
To establish itself in the wake of the One Sith's defeat, it was carrying out infrastructure projects.
One of those involved a communications array in the Outer Rim.
The Imperial knight Yalta Val was traveling to the site, the Carreras system, with a crew.
Something struck them from behind.
They crashed onto a planet.
The survivors emerged, and were promptly set on.
Val stepped out and met their attacker, a snarling Sith.
The two dueled.
The Sith got the upper hand.

The comm droid that Val's crew'd deployed earlier to facilitate communications in the interference-heavy space around them, just before they'd been shot down, arrived on the scene later.

One week after that, it ended up in a junk dealer's possession.
She took it to her engineer friend, who worked ice mining on the rings of Carreras Minor.

(When you're fumbling with an unfamiliar device, always point the open end away.)

(The Mon Cal're refugees because the One Sith unleashed a bioweapon on their homeworld.)
On Coruscant, discussion was happening.
" The point is the investment.
" We're investing in the future of this government. "
" We're investing in window dressing, not solid statecraft..

Back in the Carreras system, its governor listened to a man calling himself Yalta Val.
" Madam Governor, there is a Sith presence in this system. "
" Master Knight, with all due respect, I hardly think that- "
" This Sith attacked my ship, murdered my entire crew. Make no mistake, this was not the work of some mere bandit.
" I regret that I lost my lightsaber in the battle, or else I would have finished the fight. "

(Love the effect on his eyes in the last panel.)
On Carreras Major, Ania and Sauk took the lightsaber to a dealer.
He shooed them off because it was too risky an item to move.
Someone noticed and confronted them.
They ran.
In doing so, they caused a vehicular accident.

(That part of Ania came from a question asked after looking back at the first Legacy series, in which a descendant of Luke'd been involved: " What were the Solo descendents doing 140 years after 'A New Hope?' ")

(Writing's Bechko and Hardman.
Art's Hardman, colors're Rachelle Rosenberg, letters're Michael Heisler.
This's under 7 and 1/3rd of 22 pages of issue #1 of the second Star Wars: Legacy series.
All of that is Legends now.)

Is that a spoiler? I can't tell, the novels have been out like 5+ years, and are no longer canon, so....
