Nightwing vs Hush - Preview

SyFy Wire has the preview for next weeks "Prelude to the Wedding" event.

And who else would be organising Batman's Bachelor Party but...





I LOVE that Bruce eating burgers with a knife and fork has now progressed to be a family joke, it's the sort of thing that happens.

Since the staff, and most of the patrons, are is in costume already, who'll notice three more! :)

I try to limit preview page postings, but I really DO want to post the next page, because it highlights that when it comes to throwing a party, Dick and Clark really DO know Bruce better than anyone and have come up with something perfect for the Bat-introvert who has everything...



Bruce being all proud poppa (and tactile about it) with Dick in the second panel is gold, and just look at those smug shits in the last panel, they KNOW they done good. (And Dick and Clark being the definition of "good guy bros" who just want to make their Dad/Bro happy gives me warm happy feelings)

Oh yeah, and someone called Hush apparently shows up, but to be honest, after these pages, who cares? Not even Hush can harsh my mellow :)

I love Bruce acknowledging it's perfect, too, and interacting with Dick (we don't see enough of that).

Agreed, especially after they brought in Thomas Wayne Jr/Lincoln March/Whatever the heck that was, and then killed him.

Hush was a very thin idea, stretched waaaay too far and past it's "Use by" date

On the other hand, it gives us the chance to pretend he is jealous because, sure, he may have tried to kill him but as childhood friends HE was the one who was supposed to throw him a bachelor party, not the guy on top of his freebie list and his adoptive son.

If Hush managed to be like, say Dagger the Deranged in the "How to Train Your Dragon", series, who is convinced that Hiccup is his brother, and genuinely can't understand why his "brother" never sees how all his attempts at engaging him in combat and murdering his allies is just a very extroverted form of fraternal bonding, and ends up just being... less evil, and more ANNOYING, then I'd probably like him more. :)

I don't know enough about the Batman books to judge the character (Hush is the mirror-image-of-Bruce-Wayne deranged killer, right?), but just once I would like to see a villain say "Wait, my revenge plan requires targeting Superman? Time to come up with another plan."

Heart of Hush was one of the best Batman arcs of the past decade. I think he's earned his stay in the rogue gallery.

honestly though... how are they going to explain her and him together all the time...it's easier just to say that eccentric billionaire bruce wayne fell in love with socialite/part time catburglar Selina kyle...

I'd see Selina being more irked that since she's known to be Catwoman, it would put a crimp on her style rather than Bruce's.

I'd wondered at first why go to all the trouble rather than just flying Bruce to some remote mountain lake with good fishing, but this thing originally being for Clark's use (so he can relax without hearing cries for help miles away) makes a lot more sense. Since he apparently already had it, why not use it for the bachelor party?

Plus, based on past history, it's like Jessica Fletcher, or the Hardy Boys. They'd no sooner get to their "remote mountain" than there wuold be three inexplicable murders or a Starro invasion.

Even the pocket universe is probably risking it a little, but with no actual life forms other than, presumably, fish, it's much better odds.

We saw the end of it in last weeks "Robin vs Ra's Al Ghul" teamup... she arreives back at her flat with a tiara and a goody bag which included fur trimmed handcuffs and, slightly distrubingly perhaps, a Nightwing action figure.

Alas, since it's a superhero wedding it couldn't be Alfred as himself, and asking him to come as the Outsider would be in poor taste.

With Nightwing and Superman as groomsmen, it might be possible that Red Robin would fill the role of Best Man (I assume that's separate from groomsmen, which I'm guessing are like the male equivalent of bridesmaids? Sorry, modern weddings are not a thing I know to much about).

I would also pay good money to see Robin as the ring-bearer walking in with a scowl on his face and a little velvet pillow as everyone comments how cute he looks (Probably not helped by Jon flying overhead scattering rosepetals and giggling hysterically)

My general understanding is that a best man is something like a chief groomsman. So in a wedding where the bride and groom each only brought close friends of their own gender it would be something like.

Bride ---> Maid/Matron of Honor ----> Bridesmaids

Groom ---> Best Man ----> Groomsmen

I'm wondering who they're going to have officiate, and who Selina will bring to the party. Which of her friends aren't currently murderous/in jail/Arkham?

Minor thing: Restoring Bludhaven as Dick's city is one nice move, it was a total blunder to blow up it pre-reboot. Was it back as-of nu52 or Rebirth?
