Ania tried, unsuccessfully, to appeal for his release.
Talking over her failure with her friends, she heard that Jao'd apparently escaped custody.
She was then taken away by stormtroopers of the Empire.
She was taken to Empress Fel.
The Empress explained that her position meant that she couldn't act as she might wish to.
" That's why I need you now, Ania. You're not bound by the same rules. You can do things I can't ever publicly support.
" I trust we understand each other now? "
" I understand that you just insulted me. Other than that, I don't know what you're talking about. "
(They're meeting in a basement.)
Ania and her friends left on AG's ship, with a bunch of the Empress' stormtroopers.
Elsewhere, Jao sat in a cell on Darth Wredd's ship.
" I serve the Empress, and there is nothing you can say or do that will change that. " he said to the Sith who'd taken him away.
" We shall see. But first-
" - I will tell you a story. "
Wredd's story began with his youth, when he'd recognized that he was the kind of person who never missed a shot if it was an important one.
" At first, I didn't know why. "
" I didn't have the training, but I'd heard the tales.
" I knew what a Jedi would do. "
Then the Sith came to his people.
He was defeated and taken up into the skies.
In orbit, shackled on a ship's bridge, he saw the Sith's work.
" They used my planet as a testing ground for a new, powerful weapon.
" It worked so well that I was the only survivor.
" Oh. Yes, I learned to hate.
" But by then the war was over. My master and I had to go into hiding.
" Did you honestly think that telling me all this would get me to help you? "
" Governments come and go.
" My plan is actually much bigger than that. "
Wredd pulled out a fragment.
" Do you know what this is? "
" You're not as clever as you think. You can't trade on my sympathy by spinning some wild story. "
" I thought as much. All the same..
Later, Jao considered the fragment.
He used the Force.
He made his way to the ship's bridge.
Ania and co. followed Jao's signal.
When they arrived at the coordinates sent, they found the place familiar.
(Very circular.
