Wally West memories had been altered so that he had forgotten the existence of his children. Spurred by the suggestion that they were trapped inside The Speed Force in the same way he had been, Wally ran off to break The Speed Force.

This was all proving to be part of Hunter Zolomon plan. Which was meant to clear the path to his acquiring more powers than any previous Reverse-Flash beyond even those offered by The Speed Force by tricking Wally into destroying The Force Barrier that kept these powers hidden away. Barry and Wally follow Zoom through Hypertime.

After Wally defeats Hunter Zoom.

Be warned DC... do NOT mess with my emotions on this one....

If we're getting Bart back as Impulse, we'd bloody well better be KEEPING Bart as Impulse!

DC does seem like they're at least trying to be a bit more upbeat with some titles, so maybe Bart can stay happy go-lucky as Impulse for a while. Still, I'm worried that they're itching to give him a rude awakening for the sake of drama.

They'd have to go some to outdo Geoff Johns effort, which involved Deathstroke shooting his kneecaps out to prove a point.

I must not have been reading DC when that happened, but... why couldn't Bart just move out of the way or vibrate so the bullets passed through him?

he was at super close range, circling him to trap him and basically didn't see that Slade had the gun pointing low, as I recall. Been a long time since I read it, though. It might even have been a case of him firing the gun so Bart would basically run INTO the bullet

Well Wallace West is already Kid Flash so I don't see them putting Bart back in that identity

Of course we currently have 2 Flashes (maybe 3 when Jay and the rest of the JSA come back)

I think he means that Wally is now fully equipped with all his skills and memories that made him the flash for 20+ years, as opposed to the "Junior League" version we've had since Rebirth.

I mean, he already remembered most of it. His wife, kids, being the Flash...

This is exactly what I mean. Wally matured as a characters over about the same time period as I matured as a person. Seeing him erased and then reverted was painful.

Wally: "I... I remember everything! I even remember all the Superman continuity!"

DC Editorial: "Oh god, he's getting into the danger zone. We have to stop him!! Prepare the medication!"

Wally: "Donna? Can that be YOU?"

DC Editorial: "NURSE! The screens! NOW!"

maybe that's what Flash War or the New Crisis is about.

Wally: "Hold on a second. Wasn't there another Supergirl? An angry one with short hair?"

Multiverse: collapses and reboots itself yet again

Stan Lee: "Hey kid, I agree Ms. Marvel is pretty cool. But you've got the costume all wrong!"

That is pretty bad. Also is this supposed to be the finish for the Flash Wars? As I thought they explicitly said that we would find out which of them is the true Flash? Although I guess this could be interpreted that Wally now has more abilities than Barry, but it also feels like they are going to keep him as the second-fiddle.

Also, while I get that people are excited for Impulse coming back, I'm actually really pissed they brought him back instead of Wally's daughter. For me, there was just so much more storytelling potential there while this feels another damn nostalgia pop.

I was hoping that both Jai and Iris would come back. It never sat right with me that they ended up focusing more on Irey than her brother.

I always felt like there was an unintentional racial bias there. The twins were half-Korean and yet Irey, the one with red hair and no discernible Asian features, was the one who got to keep the powers and got the Impulse identity, while Jai (who looked a bit more like their mother) became a lazy couch potato more interested in video games. At the very least it seemed like there was a certain element of whitewashing with Iris.

It always bugged me the extent to which DC gave people mixed race kids, then whitewashed them in the art (Damian and Lian both went through entire runs clearly being drawn as caucasian).

On the other hand, I had some issues with the Jai/Iris dynamic because I felt like too much of the narrative focused on Wally trying to connect with his son at the expense of his daughter. Thanks to Flashpoint we never really got to see much of Iris as Impulse, but I was bugged by how when the twins appeared in holiday specials it always focused in Jai.

"...I want you to know why I'm the best Flash..."

FU, Barry. You were never the best Flash. You lived in Jay's shadow and then Wally overtook you both. The most impressive thing you've ever done is die heroically in a failed attempt to stop the Anti-Monitor

On the bright side, Bart is back! DC has been very trustworthy and I have no reason to think this is an emotionally manipulative fake out.

(I know sarcasm doesn't always translate in text but I trust that so many of us are rolling our eyes that you can somehow hear it)

That's actually Zoom who said it (the eye color is a dead giveaway, unless Barry gets pinkeye when running at super speed). And this situation was one I was dreading when I saw the ending of last issue.

Not Bart coming back mind you, but having three people wearing very very similar styles of outfits. At least Wally can be separated from them with the silver detailing and his hair visible.

That's Hunter Zolomon wearing Barry's original costume. Barry is the one standing next to Wally in the new 52 costume, the one with the lighting style panel lines that light up when he runs.

So they didn't learn their lesson from the era where Wally and Barry wore nearly identical costumes? I had hoped that Wally's profoundly stupid redesign at least meant that they finally realized it was a bad idea to give two characters - especially ones who often move so fast their features blur - almost the same outfit.

Well that's all kinds of confusing.

I don't think it going to be Hunter's permanent suit, just the one he wears during this story about him trying to prove himself the 'best' Flash. And it's also a nice callback to when Wally fought Thawne while Thawne was wearing Barry's suit.

Yes! Like, you made him canonically immune, deal with it, DC. Missed him for way too long.
