In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

The mire surrounding Brett Kavanaugh's likely appointment to the Supreme Court continues to get muddier and messier. A second woman has come forward with sexual assault allegations, and in the meantime POTUS 45 (and Angry Orange wannabe) managed to outdo even his own record for inappropriate tweeting (and in a week where he described Hurricane Florences as "one of the wettest we’ve ever had from the standpoint of water." that's really saying something), by publicly expressing disbelief about the first claim, using the "If it had been a big deal why didn't she report it earlier?" approach.

Even leaving aside the tastelessness and dubious legality of such a statement, it at the very least prompted a storm of replies from people explaining in painful, personal detail exactly why someone might not report a sexual assault. It makes for harrowing reading. (Kavanaugh also going on Fox News, with his wife, to protest his innocence is also a highly unusual move, suggesting desperation on someone's part). In a PURELY unrelated note, those in the US might want to make sure they are registered to vote in Novemeber's midterms.

Speaking of desperation, Brexit has been reaching new levels of ridiculousness. Theresa May presented her plans to the EU at Salzberg and, despite them having said that parts of it would be rejected for the last years or more, expressed her appalled outrage at their decision to do exactly what they've said they would do.

Meanwhile Labour are trying to cope with the fact that their vague musings about being both pro AND anti-Brexit, but more pro..-ish, in the right light, are facing calls at their national conference this week to actually back an option which would reverse Brexit. As someone put it, the Labour leadership makes a big deal about supporting the will of it's members, unless the members take a stand they don't like. It's all a bit of a mess, which is practically our national slogan at the moment.

I've watched a couple of episodes of  the anime "Dragon Pilot" (I think since Netflix saw I liked Dragon Prince, they thought "how different can they be?" Answer... a LOT). The plot appears to be "What if your dragon-type Pokemon was actually also a Transformer who has to swallow you in order to fly properly", and the main character, a young woman, is a bit like Shinji Ikari if he were prone to doing the healthy thing and occasionally letting rip and speaking up about all the crap that's building up around him because no one ever listens. Not sure I'm invested enough to watch much more, but it was worth a shot.

I DO thoroughly endorse the new Netflix series "Hilda", based on the series of graphic novels by Luke Pearson. A charming children's series, Hilda is a sensible, adventurous young girl who lives in a sort of alternate modern day Scandanavia where trolls and other creatures are just part of life and are usually fairly decent beings. We have beuraucratic elves, dragons with social anxiety, who are heavily into horticulutre, deer-fox as pets and and mountain trolls who don't always watch where they're going. I must see about posting some pages from this.

A new trailer for the Bumblebee movie dropped, and holy cow, they have the Gen 1 cast actually looking like the Gen 1 cast!!! Shockwave, Starscream and (joy of joys) Soundwave (Who is actually seen ejecting what looks to be Ravage!)

The trailer also arrived for "Stan and Ollie" starring John C Reilly and Steve Coogan, and looking at my favourite comedy double act of all time in their later years touring the UK and looking back on their careers. The performances look to be astonishing and I will judge this movie DAMN

Oh and Mary Poppins Returns has it's proper trailer too.

Telltale Games has closed up, falling into bankruptcy and canceling everything, even ending The Walking Dead Final Season at Episode 2 this week. All 250 employees fired after all their hardwork with no severance.

Its depressing but what hurts most is that the company is interested in finishing The Walking Dead but with outside parties instead of the actual employees they laid off. This just a sad end to everything.

Apparently enough people have demanded refunds that what's left of Telltale is looking to partner with other studios to finish the season.

I suppose that's good for the people who've already spent the money but their treatment of their staff is so bad that I have no intention of buying it myself.

I wish the former employees good luck in their lawsuit. Its just a shame they have to sue to get what they're rightfully owed.

Still employed, though in the next couple of months I will be in training again for another task shift. In sadder news, my perfectly decent manager has decided to resign to spend more time with her family. Yes, really.

If anyone still has Facebook, please like/follow/share my Facebook Page for "SKJAM Reviews."

And over at the blog proper, I review an urban fantasy book based in the Twin Cities that isn't "War for the Oaks." http://www.skjam.com/2018/09/23/book-review-seeking-the-storyteller/

The trailer for Bumblebee does look like the film possesses charm and wit.
Though the Geewun-heavyness is kind of a mild turn off (not fond of the over-adherence to "Everything Must Be Like The 80s" Transformers is sinking intae).
That said, the possibility that the Decepticons in this will either A: Have something resembling personalities or B: Have an actual coherent conversation is definitely something.
Tentatively excited.

-The trailer for the Bumblebee movie does look really good. I'm just deeply irritated that apparently the movie is still part of the Bay movies continuity, for once I was really hoping for a reboot.

-I finished watching The Dragon Prince! You guys should totally watch it if you haven’t already. Highly recommended. The animation quality… could use some work. But the story and characters are really interesting, the backgrounds are beautiful, and the music and voice acting are really well done.

-Devil May Cry 5 looks better and better. I was damn nearly in tears watching the recent trailer. MY BABIES ARE BACK!!! <3 <3 <3
Also Nico made Nero a vibrator arm for Kyrie. Unprecedented levels of wingwomanship, we stan a queen :')

I did not like the new character who they showed at the end of the trailer. He looks so... Generic. I don't even mind if he turns out being a villain but man, he looks like a missing member of the FFXV party.

Meanwhile, on the internet. People have become obsessed with Bowsette, a fender bender version of Bowser inspired by an item from "new super Mario Bros u Deluxe".
Personally, some of the stuff that came from it is hilarious
I recently read a book called "Queen of Ieflaria" (I have to constantly check if I wrote that title correctly). It's about to princesses in an arranged marriage... Also drains.
It is one of those fantasy books that the author feels the need to add made up works to make it feel more fantasy-ish.

I keep wanting to read that as "Queen of Latifah".

And Bowsette is ... certainly a thing. I guess its better than hearing about Toad last week.

I also watched Hilda on Netflix over the weekend. I'd never read the comics but apparently they're very popular. It's a fun take on fantasy where everyone knows the supernatural exists but for the most part people just live their lives as if it didn't.

(Now hold still, you have a bug on you)

Apparently the comments leading to Rod Rosenstein being fired (resigning? Whatever is going on with him) were meant as a joke. I've made many a joke that I wouldn't want to be taken seriously. I've also hidden my true feelings in many of them.

Between discussions of the Bat-Pole and comparisons to Toad, I've spent far too much of the last week thinking about fictional character's junk.

Also I posted this last week but I think it's worth repeating....

I've been thinking about how the Brett Kavanaugh thing highlights the divide between politics and the rest of the world.

Imagine you went in for a job interview after only submitting some of the required paperwork at the absolute last minute. Now imagine you were rude to the interviewers and refused to answer their questions about how you would preform your duties. Finally, imagine the background check raised some giant red flags.

Congratulations, welcome to the team.

The final trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 is out. It turns out Nagini was an Animagus all along. Claudia Kim is playing her, so sexy Asian snake villainesses are still a thing, so make of that what you will.

I watched the 2 Mary 2 Poppins trailer and... I'm disappointed

a) It has the Disney direct to DVD look of rehashing shots from the first one, but with added rehashed plot beats

b) So far, no scene where Mary flexes her absolutely ripped arms

I was able to catch the "Sandboy" episode of Miraculous Ladybug. There's a lot of lore involved, it's one of the few episodes that has a different structure from the usual formula, and I think this episode was better for it.

The "My Hero Academia" movie is in select theaters this week until in early October. Also, new season of SOuth Park starts today, with tonight's episode about Stan's mom being on edge with current events and Randy being trying to put up with it... as well as possibly touching up on school shootings... which may or may not involve Eric Cartman trying to get out of a failing math grade...

Also, this whole ordeal with Kavanaugh kinda highlights how low most Republicans and Conservatives are getting. Aside from how Democracts and Liberal see Kavanaugh as a threat to their agenda... Republicans are grossly try to justify theirs.

The NRA became outright bullies to school-shooting survivors, ranging from saying their know-nothing children to being Crisis Actors for protesting better gun laws and regulations.
People think that the "holding centers" for illegal immigrate children are too nice and upset that most schools are not that nice or get the same kind of funding (though they still blame THAT on immigrants too).
And comparing Mitch McConnel's actions and stances for Supreme Court nominations between the Obama and the Trump administration is like night and day.

And I feel as soon as Trump is out of office... EVERYONE will sing a different tune to how he was despite how "great" he "made" the economy and job market... or at least write their own book of events that just show it is a crazy well of madness and depression that even the girl from Ring would have trouble crawling out from...
