When you're plotting a big epic book, Stingray is exactly the kind of character you'd kill off to emphasize the stakes.

Yeah. I mean, Namor getting irked at the surface world and throwing a temper tantrum is built into who he is. And he's got no sense of proportionate response. These are well built foundations of his character.

But Namor's also a hero, loyal to his friends, and can be quite reasonable (he REALLY bounces back and forth on how much so, mind).

So it's a tightrope for writers. But this is way too far towards the villainous end.

On the other hand, knee high boots, fishnet cutouts and shoulder pads? Apparently that's how I like my beefcake dressed!

Who wants to be that Stingray was killed just so we could get another legacy hero...exactly like Stingray?

I don't really feel he's a character who would inspire a legacy. He was a marine biologist who sometimes used his special diving suit to be a hero. The low key nature was much of his charm.

Art is gorgeous. I love Namors alien-looking and inhuman eyes. Little irked that they down actually look like they are underwater, they stand, fly, talk, breathe, move etc as if they were abovewater.

The characterization is... not competent.

I realize unpredictable is Namor's thing, but this seems incredibly at odds with what's going on with him over in X-Men: Red.

I like a morally grey Namor but why on Earth would he kill an environmentalist superhero even at his most evil? Even when he's a bad guy, wanting to protect the sea is his one redeeming trait.

Also, wtf are the Avengers doing here?

The Roxxon guys straight-up murdered Atlanteans on Atlantean territory, then desecated the corpses. And now they are in an Atlantean jail, facing Atlantean justice. Would the Avengers have come to repatriate murderers from the UK, or Italy?

I mean, Namor is absolutely in the right, as far as the Roxxon guys go. Also, whats going to happen to them in the US is just extradition hearings.

This is on the level of Chuck Austen and his notion that She-Hulk can do law in Canada.
