Wait are they saying Palpatine created Anakin? I thought it was Plagueis.

That doesn't look like Palpatine behind his mother. Remember, at the time, Palpatine looked normal, not withered.

They may be showing he helped Plageuis in some way or retconning Palpatine as the one who did it. Take your pick.

I don't know, the scene with "I am your father " has Obi-Wan there. I think it just says that while Anakin has no genetic father , he has had two father figures who have been and still influencing him.

I was fine with Vader being Star Wars Jesus, this kinda ruins him for me.

I don't recall Jesus butchering little kids with a flaming sword.

Your Sunday school sounds awesome.

It was in the Apocrypha... I want to say it was the Book of Lucas, which describes Jesus' missing years, when he left Joseph and Mary, went to school, was seduced to the dark side by a teacher...

It was mentioned again in the Book of Rian, but that is a disputed later edition post even Council of DisNicea things. One of those fringe cults that came out when the New World opened up, I think. I heard that they were already schisming over it, too.

I think there is actually an apocrypha where he kills a bunch of kids.

Then hes like "Wait, sorry." and brings them back to life.

I think it's just one. Kid falls off the roof and dies, people wonder if Jesus was responsible, Jesus resurrects the kid to confirm, no he just fell

To be fair, the truth of his birth came from Episode 3. Which, as with most of the prequels, made the mistake of trying to explain "the force", rather than allowing it to be this mystical/spiritual element of the universe. Though I agree that it ruins something in Anakin's origin that his birth was actually orchestated by the bad guys.
I personally think it would have been more powerful that Anakin's birth had been The Forces doing to bring balance, but Palpatine corrupted him.

Huh.

I mean I remember reading that this was apparently in early versions of Revenge of the Sith, but huh.

"DARTH SIDIOUS

I have waited all these years for you to fulfill your destiny [...] I arranged for your conception. I used the power of the force to will the midichlorians to start the cell divisions that created you.

ANAKIN

I don't believe you.

DARTH SIDIOUS

Ahhh, but you know it's true. When you clear your mind, you will sense the truth. You could almost think of me as your father."

Were'd Sheev get the Y chromosome from?

I'm of two minds about this. One the one hand, if we are going by the logic of the classic Extended Universe, I could legitimately see Palpatine doing this as a precursor to his needing to clone himself. Manipulate the Force to create a fetus that is highly sensitive to the Force to be used as a back-up body in case of being overpowered by the Jedi is pretty damn ingenious.

On the other hand, if we don't consider the classic SWEU, then there is more or less no reason for him to do this that I can see. Maybe he wanted to craft his perfect apprentice from the start, but what reason would allow him to travel to Tatooine to perform this on Shmi without her knowing? Especially given that he was likely still Naboo's senator for the Republic.

Personally, I just think that Palpatine just happened to be checking in on Vader through the Force and decided to torment him with this as a possibility, to further reinforce the idea that Vader is more or less his to use as he sees fit.

ngl I'm kinda going to miss the immaculate conception origin. But mostly because it means this trans headcanon also applies to Anakin (and thus Luke?)
