I generally love Mike W Barr, but I just could NOT get into this version of the Outsiders.

I recall a comic con panel in London one time when this was stlll in the development stage, and MWB was there and mentioned the new line up, though he mentioned there was one character they hadn't decided on because they would want something trendy, and they had no idea what was going to be trendy at this point. They even had fun coming up with a notional character "Fadman", whose powers and themes would change periodically and uncontrollably according to what was in vogue; Hula Hoops are in? Then he has the power to generate and control hula hoops of energy. Rubik's Cubes? No problem.. Aerobics? Bring on the legwarmers and the headbands.

I still suspect Fadman would have been a better, more creative, addition to the team than most...

I hated vampire Looker and this version of Halo's costume. Her original was a sleek, gorgeous classic that didn't need changing. :(

I just want to mention that this doesn't precede #1. This is from DC's "Zero Month" stunt, and several issues into the series.
