This series is just painful. The writing , the story - all of it. It is like the Marvel Editorial board is writing it with feedback from focus groups. And what is this? A NEW number 1?? God, shoot me. Do they even care how bad this is??
Imagine if DC or Marvel was like. "Hey, let's write a really good comic book to go along with our upcoming movie. Not the drivel and swine we have been making for noobs in the past but a really good series to go along with our movie." Then you might actually get new people to stick around for longer than 3 issues. Then you might actually bring more people into your brand and make more money long-term.
But, no, we get excrement like this every time a new movie comes out.
Yeah, why did they even feel the need to mention the convoluted and brief death of Rhodey in issue 1, supposedly a good jumping-on point for new readers? Keep the continuity clear and easy before throwing all of that in!
I get your point, but to be fair if they want to have Rhodey be a part of the book and still in a relationship with Carol it is a fairly relevant bit of information to include for people who aren't up on what happened in Civil War 2 and the Iron Man books.
Yondu is a character I don't mind seeing MCU synergy for. That being said the crook version is apparently the great-great-great grandfather of the 'original' one so I guess he's still out there if writers want to use him.
REALLY?!? is that the excuse you are going to use? You found some schmuck who could 'foretell the future' and used him and his abilities to form a world wide police state, and locked up anyone who disagreed with you! Rhodey, if you really loved her as much as you say you do, you should say, "look what you went through with me dying is a serious stress for for an alcoholic, did it occur to you (well and Tony as well, but I'm not sleeping with him (except in fanfiction)) at ANY time to go to a meeting?"
My "favorite" part was Tony telling Carol that focus tests showed that the public didn't relate to her being "boss of space", that they didn't understand what she did there.
I mean it's not like it was an actual plot point that they were making a show based on Carol and Alpha Flight as a way to raise funding or that CW2 ended with her apparently even more popular amongst the public than ever. I think there were actual camera crews up on the space station at some point.
On the one hand, yes. On the other hand, that TV show idea was ditched pretty quickly (as it should have been) and I'm not surprised the public has trouble remembering anyone who doesn't tweet.
It's not shown here, but the very first page irked me when it described Carol as a soldier during the backstory recap. The correct term is "airman", since she was in the Air Force.
A small thing, perhaps, but writers getting very easy stuff like that wrong really bothers me.

But yes, am a bit annoyed at bits like how comic Yondu has now been turned into the movie version of the rough crook.
