yup. I'm about 2/3rds through his Castlevania series and I knew it was Ellis writing for sure when Trevor was telling Alucard and Sofia about his family being driven out when he was 12. and Alucard comments that he finds it sad to realize he had more of a childhood than you (Trevor). Trevor responds, "and your dad is f***ing Dracula."
Honestly wasn't sure about the reformation of the Authority at first, but this and the next issue has me on board with it.
The original Authority and a lot of Warren Ellis' 90's-00's work had a techno-utopianism bent. The revolutions from the superhero universe being used to create "a finer world".
The new Authority feels like a reaction to that and an update in attitudes. It's very much "Yeah, there could've been a finer world. But we have rampant capitalism, oligarchies, a giant surveillance state, and hierarchical power structures fucking everything up. Now we need to perform a last-ditch effort to fix things or else humanity is going into a very dark future".
I'm glad to have them back in the best possible and most capable hands. If Ellis started writing Beetle Baily, I'd stick around for at least the first story arc.

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
