This was really the only story I wanted to read from this issue because of the batfam, but they just blathered the whole time. The Barbara and Kate panel was especially irritating because so many things are wrong with it.

Very disappointed.

King is a weird writer for me. I dislike 80% of the stuff he does, but then there are moments that I absolutely LOVE.

That scene where the Batfamily goes to JokerDonald's. The scene where they ask "if Batman is meant to be alone to be strong, why is he so much weaker when his loved ones leave him?" And this scene here.

What it is, I think, is that he's ambitious- not so much in the usual "X Character will never be the same," but in trying to evoke very specific and intense emotional reactions. So for a lot of people it won't land a lot of the time (for what it's worth, I think I like him more often than you do, but I can see where you and others don't), but when it DOES land, it really goddamn lands.

The Babs Tarr costume was SO good and they made SUCH a big deal about it, I'm baffled as to why they quietly abandoned it.

I'll admit it. Even though it's insanely OOC between Kate/Babs and Tim/Steph I did chuckle and smile a little at the Duke/Jason and Cass/Helena stuff.

My favorite part about this is realizing that even Tom King thinks the whole "Jason is now a murderer and out of the family again" thing is stupid
