For those who wish to know know... YES this origin still is canon.

Puck was 8 years old in 1922. Which means he was born in 1914 and would be 105 years old in 2019! I myself don't have a problem with it other than the fact he should have been BORN a Dwarf not became one.

Raazer (boy, for a bad idea he sure had many names) isn't directly mentioned as the source of his long life, though. Could be he just garnered enough esoteric knowledge to halt his aging in the current version of MU.

Whatever works.

This was just an awful retcon, especially as Byrne had gone out of his way to stress that Judd actually had congenital dwarfism early in the AF run.

Agreed.
It was such a -weird- set of ideas to graft onto Puck's concept.

I mean, the idea of him being much older than he appears and having lived a life of adventure? That's cool enough. But him being a dwarf because he's the vessel for an evil Arabic spirit? Eh, pass.

Also, that whole era of him moping around because of his unrequited love for Heather... sure, Alpha Flight was always a soap opera at heart, but that was just irksome.

I think it was a Claremont swipe at Byrne, it was first mentioned in the X-men / alpha flight crossover.

"Hmm, while we're retconning Puck's origin to make it more ablest, how about we throw some racism in there too?"
"Fantastic idea!"
I do like that he's older and has had an adventurous life, but why not play with what was actually going on in the early twentieth century?

Razer (or someone who looked exactly like him) appeared in NEW MUTANTS ANNUAL #7. For some reason he was working for the Iraqi government in 1991.

Desert Sword was designed to be Iraq's personal superhuman military team, led by Sirocco. The original team's roster included Sirocco, Aminedi, the Veil, and Black Raazer, until Iraq forced Arabian Knight onto the team.

That was, indeed, the same Razzaaaar (or however it's spelled)

I could have sworn Alpha Flight only ran for 28 issues...

There were some good issues after 29... not many I grant you, but I always liked some of their new characters, like Manikin, Goblin and Windshear,

Did Marvel ever re-retcon (or Mopee) this?

As genius as Mantlo was with Rom and Micronauts, his Alpha run is not one of his best works.
