Hmmm. So perhaps this is all a response to the racial separatism direction the X-Men have been stuck in since M-Day. Nate is trying to break them out of it by giving them the logical conclusion: a world of nothing but mutants. A world that's not actually worth fighting for.

It's a stupid, convoluted plan, but it's a good way to draw a line under this direction.

Then again, I could be projecting, because I despise the whole separatism direction. An entire minority group buggering off to an island or another dimension is a bigot's wet dream.

The flip side to that is I have yet to see it work in fiction in the long term. So the mutants are on, oh lets call it "Paradise Island". The only ones there are mutants: no Inhumans or so called "normal" people, just good old mutants.
So now that the outside conflict is resolved they have to then deal with each other. Thus you get the factions and in-fighting. And then soon enough, the killing begins as they turn on each other.

Mutants ARE people, though. That's the whole point of the X-Men.

Plus, outside forces also tend to invade and massacre mutant-dominated territory and safe spaces.

"I AM the world".... Isn't this exactly the same methodology that Legion used to create the pocket universe of "Age of X",
