Oh like Superman can't carve a new one of those statues in three seconds flat. Two seconds flat if he and Flash have a competition over it, and with the latter you get two statues at the end of it.

I do wish DC had leaned into the "trans Jimmy" meme/theory though. Seems like easy publicity and a good way to win points with the more progressive modern comics reader. Still, some silver age fun is a decent second best.

Superman could carve a new one, but it woudn't be the same one, and the heritage of it counts.

Okay, I really do love leaning into the idea that crazy shit just happens to Jimmy. Like, he shows up as a gorilla one day and no one bats an eye.

This was an immensely satisfying first issue, I love the idea that the Olsen's and the Luthor's are both founding families of the city that became Metropolis, so there's different rivalry between them than between Superman and Luthor, it's an older thing, a family feud.

I also love Jimmy just being... a weird magnet, and that he's actually, and probably unwittingly, turned that into something profitable. (The fact he's the only money making aspect of the entire Daily Planet empire is hilarious.

Really looking forward to the rest of this series!

Jimmy Olsen, reality show star. The Planet making money on his YouTube videos.

I'll bet there's even a comic book about him in the DC universe, and he keeps getting writers that want to make it grim 'n' gritty.

I'm struggling to understand why the paper even exists anymore. Recording and uploading could be done by a single person, selling it and having it fold might cover at least some of its debt, and fact checking doesn't require printing physical copies. Are there that many folks without internet and seniors in Metropolis?

Is Lois on assignment or did she get fired?

1) Because the issue in real life is not as simple as that nor can you tell a story about it by just having the Daily Planet turn digital overnight.

2) She is doing investigative work and sending it to The Planet to publish it, as show in Rucka's Lois Lane ongoing.
