You know it dawns on me that the two problems I have with modern Star Wars movies is that JJ knows how Star Wars mythology doesn't know how space works and Rian does know how space works, but doesn't know how to tell Star Wars mythology. Maybe if they co-created we could get a tale that knows how both Star Wars mythology and space works and get a complete Star Wars movie out of them.

I do like the attempt to truly broaden out the new movie canon though. I always felt the remit of all the Star Wars comics was to go beyond the limits of the screen. There was that old one that had Chewbacca fight sea monsters, for example.

Also: I guess they can take the sky from you. [snigger] I suddenly have a dreadfully and delightfully wicked Firefly fic to write.

JJ doesn't know how space works?!... well, that would explain a lot actually since all of his vehicle action sequences never take place in space. And it's looking like the last movie will follow suit!

Maybe if Kathleen Kennedy did her job and didn't let rian throw away JJ script for episode 8 too write his own there would not be such tone difference between the two

I think JJ script was pretty much the OT scenes refilmed in a different order, tho

fair, but Kathleen should of been doing the Feige role and making sure everything was in order instead of letting each director do their own thing.

What I liked best about force awakens is how it played with the original’s iconography with Finn’s redemption arc and Rey being introduced with echoes of the Tuskegan Raiders.

I agree with Tom Taylor. It was definitely my favourite Age of Resistance comic. Rose and Paige get a backstory that honestly should have been included in The Last Jedi in some form, and their bonding with Leia is beautiful. The comic is emotionally mature, definitely Tom Taylor at his best.
