Isn't Gotham on the other side of the bay from Metropolis? Shouldn't a blast that atomizes Metropolis practically destroy Gotham with the shockwave (and presumably the tsunami that this explosion should generate)?
I realize this is a dumb thing to nitpick, but, you know...comics.
Yeah as others have said it varies a lot but I do think Gotham is usually further eastward than Metropolis so if the blast reached Metropolis Gotham should have definitely been affected.
But I have a feeling Gotham is going to be a go to local for this series so we'll just have to assume it is some where out of the blast radius. Probably just far enough to be rendered perpetually dark by the debris fall out.
Washington DC to the probable location of Metropolis would mean a fireball radius of about 100 miles. The Chicxulub Crater that's thought to be from the impact that caused dinosaurs to go extinct has a 46.5 mile radius.
Likely the only humans who could survive that explosion would be invulnerable, intangible, or off-planet. It should have killed even Superman at ground zero, he's been knocked unconscious by a 30 megaton blast post-Crisis.
