Of course, of course. Really, there's no single "canon" Archiverse. Even amongst the majority of stories, in which nothing supernatural or paranormal happens.

Sometimes Archie only dates Veronica, with Betty his forlorn, lovesick "back-up" date at best.

Sometimes Archie only dates Betty. (This is rare though.)

Sometimes Archie dates both Betty and Veronica, and in turn sometimes they're okay with this and sometimes they demand he choose one or the other.

Then there was the timeline in which Archie not only dated Valerie to the exclusion of Betty or Veronica, but ended up marrying her.

But in NO timeline, past or present, mundane or paranormal/supernatural, have Betty and Veronica ever gotten together. Not even in a single-issue tale, not even in a short story. Hell, not even in the CW show. (Their just-for-show kiss during their cheerleading tryout routine early in Season 1 doesn't count.) So if this is leading to their getting together in the next issue of this mini, it would indeed be something new.

Most likely, though, the creators are teasing us mercilessly. :D

What’s the deal with this book? Does that actually have anything to do with Predator or is that a sequel in name only?

Yep. They are currently being attacked by Predators. Actually, it was pretty funny as Veronica called "Frank" (Castle) to help them out and (I think) ended up talking to the Winter Soldier on the phone.
