...are you actually critiquing her talking about aliens from outer space and going after her for not acknowledging white colonialists while doing so...?
The aliens are presented as believing themselves to be a superior race, and intend to claim the territory of an inferior race as their own. How is that not a colonial narrative? H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds was explicitly a story of England being attacked with advanced technology -- just as they themselves attacked other nations with advanced technology -- and the attackers dying to native plagues -- just as European colonizers in Africa suffered from diseases there.
And oh look, a blue-eyed blonde has just become a god. We should really celebrate this.
That could apply to almost any alien invasion story ever written.
You’re inferring the most cynical interpretation because of your own bias against Palmiotti (calling him a piece of shit in the previous post). You’ve done the same thing with Bendis, saying he identifies with the Purple Man and accusing him of getting off on rape, even blaming him for added rape on the Jessica Jones show that he didn’t even work on. It’s ridiculous.
The burden of proof is on you. You can't just pull accusations out of thin air and expect anyone to take them seriously, especially when you've admitted your own personal biases against the writers.
But by all means, tell me how Bendis wants to be the Purple Man and how he was responsible for the added rape on the show that he didn't even work on as a writer.
In case anyone was wondering, this is what he wrote in the past:
Bendis is the executive producer of the TV show, so he was clearly only prevented from having Jessica raped in the comics by editorial dictate. And even if she wasn't, the Purple Man was depicted as a rapist in those stories, and Bendis has admitted in print that he views the character as a surrogate self.
Rofl so first you suggest no one was able to prove you wrong and then when someone calls you on the fact that you made stuff up your response is "Screw you guys, I'm coming home".
If any of your claims had any merit, you wouldn't have to resort to blatantly lying about Bendis saying he views the Purple Man as his surrogate.
That’s very sins of the father-y, isn’t that? She had nothing to do with the colonisation of the U.S. and as far as we’re shown she isn’t really harbouring any racist or bigoted viewpoints. She’s also specifically talking about non-human invasions of the planet as a whole.
By their logic Captain America trying to undo Thanos' snap is hypocritical because he's not acknowledging the genocides perpetrated by Americans over the course of history.
She’s also specifically talking about non-human invasions of the planet as a whole.
There is no fucking difference. None. I devoutly hope that someday aliens do invade and devastate what we have made of our world. That would be justice.
Given that thwarting alien invasions is a time-honored and long-lasting science fiction and comic book trope, and one being used in a series about addressing comic book tropes in unexpected ways, it seems both disingenuous and hostile to pick -this- series and -this- creator, to complain that they're not tackling colonialism.
I mean comics alone incorporate alien invasion stories several times a year, from the intimate alien scout concept to the full-blown takeover of Earth, but that doesn't necessarily mean that every single one of them is a metaphor for real world matters like you're suggesting.
And given that your responses to this subject in the past few posts have been hostile, overly defensive, and belligerent, I'm going to assume you came here for the sort of fight one doesn't often see (or put up with) in Scans_Daily.
And so to you, my dear troll, I say "Good day, sir/madame/whatever, GOOD DAY."
