ATLA: The Promise Part Two

You know back in high school, the library never got this one. It just skipped straight from one to three and what happened here took on an air of mystery for me, as while I knew what happened I didn't get to read it.

Aang and Katara leave for Ba Sing Sa to meet with the Earth King, while Sokka stays behind with Toph to help her train her students.





The students were kicked out by Kunyo a Fire Nation citizen, who used to run a Fire Bending Dojo here.



The two schools agree to have a match between students, to decide who gets to own the building.

Aang and Katara arrive in Ba Sing Sa, while their discussing where to spend the night, Aang's recognised by members of the Official Avatar Aang Fan Club.








The next day Toph tries to train her students, but they still haven't made any progress. Sokka asks how she found them. Toph explains that she noticed that her meteor bracelet would react to them when they got emotional in public.









Aang and Katara leave the fan club.




Zuko visits his father again, who explains the meaning behind his story. Zuko is still indecisive about what action he should take.





Disgusted at his son, Ozai orders him to leave.

Meanwhile Sokka has come up with an idea to help Toph's students. He thinks that their Metalbending is linked to their emotional state. So he asks Toph to bend something together for him.

Later he takes Toph's students out on a camping trip.









Outside of Yu Dao Kori has been training with other benders.





Meanwhile Aang and Katara meet with the Earth King.





As they rush back to Yu Dao, one of the fan club sends a message to their Yu Dao branch.





The next morning Kunyo and his students arrive.





With their newfound skills they chase the Firebenders off.







Zuko learns from his spies that the Earth King is mobilizing his army to Yu Dao.

The writing is far too good for something like The Last Airbender. Kind of bugs me that it's so well done because it's connected to a series and characters I really dislike.

Oddly, I see this as being worthy of the series because it is so good.

The existing characters shown here are seem just as they are in the series (or where they'd be shortly after it ended). and the new additions I could easily see being on the show, espeically the likes of Ho Tun, Pensa and the Dark One.

I mean. I know that there are six billion people on this planet, so statistically, somebody has to feel this way.

But I'll say, you are the first I've seen.

If it's any consolation, I LOVE the Legend of Korra. One of the best TV shows I've ever seen. That show not only had great villains, but mature explorations of so many different political ideas, and unlike The Last Airbender the characters are actually adults!

Unfortunately Korra is forever poisoned in my mind because I've grown to despise the writer, and I can't stand to watch anything with their name on it.

No, I won't elaborate.

Ah, I'm sorry. I confess, I don't know what you're referring to exactly, but It's a shame when that happens. It can certainly be difficult to separate bad things an artist does from the work they create.

I'm SO HAPPY this ruthlessly shuts down the "be a dick to them so they'll be stronger" training strategy. Friggin' loathe that strateg, and it's used all the damn time in shounen.
