This is very dangerous ground for Hughie, psychologically speaking—he’s been living with the fallout of the horrifically violent times he spent with Butcher ever since. But now he has no choice but to head down the rabbit hole, back to the days when Butcher, MM, Frenchie and the Female were part of his life.

Hughie is going to find things out about Butcher that he never knew before, things that might get him looking at his erstwhile boss- and his own life, come to that—in a rather different light. But he’ll have to figure out who it is that’s trying to drag him back into the world of The Boys in the first place- and why."

Ennis usually writes better than this and has better justifications for The Boys.

This is just...unpleasant.

It really is grotesque in every sense of the word as we're essentially watching a group of adults torture a small child while the narration justifies his mutilation by saying he's a serial rapist in his superhero form.

Finally, what exactly is the point of this miniseries? I mean, besides Ennis wanking about Hard Men Who Have to Do Hard Things (But don't worry, the man in question feels really conflicted about it, you guys) and shitting on superheroes.

The point is cashing in on the TV series. No more, no less.

I like how Annie just does not appear in this issue despite them being in Scotland together is part of the entire premise and is probably the entire thematic throughline of the comic since it's also focusing on Butcher's wife.

No the Gen-Xer political correctness spiel is much more important.

Is this how Billy got his "kill all supes and everyone else with V in their system" plan?

Also, the supes are gone now? It seems they are, even though it looked like some were still around at the end of the series. It looked like the Voight Man was calling Hughies bluff on going through with Billy's plan. "You aren't going to commit an atrocity in order to stop us from making money."

I would be fine with any variations or spin-offs of the Boys as long as Russ keeps drawing. Ennis has such a talent for dialogue.
