Supported by the super-oxygenating tree Branstokker (as in Barnstokkr), a stratified society thrives.
In that society, two siblings lived their lives.
One was Seren, off work and climbing.
The other was Tenn, showing off her work.
She headed home.
(" Can'ops " reflects the upper strata of society living in the canopy of Branstokker.)
Later that night, Seren thought to himself.
The next day, Seren took Tenn through the water tunnels, to the top.
(" Fore'flors " are the people on the ground, the " forest floor ".)
While Tenn took in the party line, Seren went to work.
Tenn, enraptured, eventually remembered that she was doing something illegal.
" Let's get out of here. I'm ready to go. "
" Stay with me! "
She got to her feet.
(They're not plant-people, and they're not talking about plant-people.
