Loki is able to separate Thor from his hammer for sixty seconds and encase it in a force field which leaves his brother powerless as Donald Blake. Loki proceeds to cause havoc on Earth.

Interesting choice, in '63, to have Loki's demonstrate how wily, dangerous, and uncontrollable he's becoming... by sabotaging a Soviet nuclear test.

Hey, he may be a callous, murderous Norse God of Chaos, but he's an American callous, murderous Norse God of Chaos!

"I am most pleased to see my favorite son again!"

Geez, Odin, no wonder Loki turned out the way he did.

It's hilarious, because these early stories tend to begin with everyone in Asgard treating Loki as Public Enemy Number One, but once Kirby became a regular artist (around the #102 mark or so), Loki became this Villain With Good(?) Publicity that even the Warriors Three were obligated to obey in Thor's absence.

Hey, he's (officially, at least) a prince of the blood royal! If you start suggesting that people don't have obey royals just because they're evil murderous ice-cream obsessed dark magicians next they'll start wondering if royal blood is a good indicator of effective rulership at all!

I hope those dogs are okay from eating that ice cream.

Some villains restrict themselves to poisoning one dog at a time.
Not Loki.
He truly is the God of Evil!

Even for a Silver Age comic, this is very Silver Age.

Foiled by a dummy, peanuts and a net.
Guessing that's yet another chapter Loki's going to leave out of the autobiography.
(still, better than the time his manipulations were foiled by him sitting on a haggis...)

Those are some pretty chill pigeons though. What have they seen that a man looming over them with a hammer does nothing to disturb them?

New York pigeons are just Like That, m'man. They haven't feared Man since the turn of the 20th century.
