Ugh...the only thing worse the the writing of batman is the creepy expressions the artist gives him at times, sans mask. And batman really wouldn't have an alert of some sort to wake them up if a bomb went off in the night in the batman? Or any kind of alert to what happened down there?

If it was impactful enough to destroy parts of the batcave and wake Alfred up because of popping in his ears, it should still have warranted an alarm, regardless of the cause.

I mean, Gotham is on a fault line. Maybe he got so many false alarms from slight tremors that he stopped using the alert system. Doesn't sound very Batman-like though.

Personally I'm more bothered by how free everyone is with Dick's real name. He's probably the worst Robin at keeping his own secret identity but that doesn't mean Bruce and Steph should be using it in front of people they just started working with.

Once again, having Cinderella be the greatest secret agent alive remains one of the most genius parts of Fables.

Yeah, Cindy was great in Fables.

...which makes me wonder what's going on here.

That outfit makes her look like a celebrity "trying to go incognito" while attracting the maximum amount of attention.

Secret Agent Cindy is normally better at blending in. Maybe she saw an old photo of Magpie and thought that's how people dress in Gotham.

Isn't this guy supposed to be an excellent writer? I've never read his stuff because I refuse to support an anti-choicer, but I've always heard high praise for Fables and its spin-offs.

Is it a thing like Ennis, where he's really good at war stories but should never be allowed near superheroes?

Fables was really good for the first 75 issues in my opinion then I lost interest. That seems to be the general consensus for a lot of people.

I'd say 100* but, yeah, I never did get around to finishing it. I think I left off around Cubs in Toyland (114-121).

*I enjoyed the post-war stuff but introducing a new big bad just seemed like an attempt to drag things out.

The spin-offs didn't help.

Sure the Cinderella minis were fantastic but the Jack series took one of the best characters in Fables and put him in a series that just wasn't all that interesting and lead into the god-awful Literals stuff.

His main strength has always been in the bigger story than in the granularity of individual scenes or lines.

Also wow nothing gets me more excited to buy a comic than "Batman and Robin are running some kind of insane costumed millitia cult made up of psychotics in masks and identical uniforms"

Honestly this is making me think that Joker can't do "Last Laugh" soon enough and this time I hope he wins

To be fair, there was that whole “We Are Robin” movement a few years back, and Batman sold his name out to other heroes for Batman Incorporated. If you can’t stop them, you might as well try to guide them.

Batman Inc is also kind of a brilliant way to maintain a secret identity in the modern day (where any accountant with half a brain can see the Wayne/Batman connection) and We Are Robin could make for some solid commentary on social media activism but ...

... it still strikes me as weird how quickly he went from "Stay out of my city!" to "how would you like to open a franchise?".
