The "what if Miles became Captain America/Wolverine" title is an odd pick for an concept imo. Miles isn't exactly the most defined character.

Also Marvel's still trying it with Pete and MJ I see.

Honestly think it should have been Kamala. Her family getting saved by Carol as a kid can just as easily be replaced with any other hero. Plus the idea of her taking after Cap and becoming a flag-kissing Muslim is quite interesting in today's political sphere.

Could just be a tease, especially since what they've revealed about this run is that he's on the outs with everyone, up to and including AUNT MAY.

(Them referring to Peter/MJ as the "best couple in comics" is nice, though.)

I don't care about Vulcan in the least, but I am all for Ewing writing Sunspot again. Glad to see Old Man Cable is sticking around too.

Vulcan is noticeable because his stuff was screwed up by Hickman's own admission. Apparently, Petra and Sway were supposed to be hallucinations as they came before the cut-off date for ressurectible mutants, but then he had Havok casually mentioning them going through the portal (and Trial of Magneto rendered said cut-off date moot). And also there were plans for an Imperial Guard book that fell through.

Ewing taking Vulcan might actually be a legitimate attempt to fix this and resolve his plots.

My sources tell me that robot brains prefer beer, so that might alienate Champagne Robot to the robot cause.

The longer any female mutant exists, the more likely she is to get sexified.
Just ask Jubilee, who started off as a flat-chested, scrawny mallrat under Jim Lee's art.
Or Kitty Pryde as she first appeared.
Or Rahne Sinclaire.
And Pixie was originally a dorky background character who wore a -helmet- to protect her from crashing into things when she flew. Once she started to become a more prominent character, she steadily got more attractive.

No matter how they're originally designed, it's only a matter of time before an artist decides they need more curves and oomph.
(Hell, remember how Cassandra/Wonder Girl changed from her initial appearances in Wonder Woman and Young Justice, to "blonde bombshell" in Teen Titans?)

I think both Ewing and Hickman's versions of Sunspot are competent it just varies how much of their himbo personality is an act

I have to say I’m concerned about Shogo being there without Jubilee, doubly so that they’re still using him as a weapon when his very breath has the capacity to rend reality asunder. They’re not even pretending anymore that they’ve turned Fury into just a knockoff Sentinel. I like how they’re pretending like our “heroes” are “restoring the rightful order” and making Arthur an “usurper” (usurping what, his own throne?). And why is witchbreed in quotation marks? That’s not a slur, that’s literally what they’re called over in Otherworld. What disgusting pro-exceptionalism rubbish...

I know that’s probably just MCU synergy, but hurray for the return of Captain Falcon! Hopefully he gets to stick around for a bit longer.

Any time the Fury has been used in the US, it's been a knockoff Sentinel. Claremont being the worst offender when he wasted Alan Davis art on a story where the Fury doesn't bother killing mutants right in front of it because it suddenly felt the need to be tactical and do some mind control on Sage.

I'm more worried about the risk to his life especially as he is just a baby :(

I mean yes, I would call a world where the people in charge are NOT psychotic fascists and where roving cybernetic abominations aren't hunting and murdering people for being born different to be restoring the rightful order

Merlin and Arthur never ruled Otherworld, they ruled kingdoms in it. Saturnyne is ruler of Otherworld and that's who they have usurped

Also as Arthur lost his throne in Avalon then yes, him overthrowing Avalon's current monarch is him usurping the throne.

As a comparison: If Henry VIII came back to life in Britain and took over the royal family, that would be him usurping the throne in that country. It wouldn't matter that he HAD been king in the past...he is not the monarch of that country in the present day.

Being king isn't like having a temp job at McDonalds. You can't leave it for a while and then just come back a few years later and re-apply

A lot to look forward to, and I'm specially intrigued by the Captain America books. Is anyone familiar with any of the writers?

A quick google search tells me Tochi Onyebuchi is a new-ish writer whose debut novel got nominated for a ton of awards (and won a few), and Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing have previously done some Batman (or at least Gotham-centric) stuff for DC.

This actually looks VERY promising! I'm looking forward to X-Men Red, Legion of X, Knights of X, Thunderbird, X-Men '92, Immortal X-Men, and Captain Carter. I'm honestly very happy with the upcoming Marvel's output, maybe the publisher will finally stop to suck.
