Date: 2022-02-17 03:15 pm (UTC)Yeah I do not miss that era where both DC and Marvel decided everything needed to be grittier and "More real" which translated to making everyone assholes and making every villain a cackling mass murderer or a puppy kicking serial rapist
There were good things that came of that time such as some increased diversity and representation but I'm glad that these days we have the good parts of that era like increased diversity in the cast of characters appearing and less of the bad, like everything needing to feel so damn bleak

Date: 2022-02-17 03:12 pm (UTC)Kurt Busiek is one of those writers who takes so much delight in the superhero universe he's working in. He feels like a genuine fan of the medium with a love for the characters and their histories and this book is one of my favorite of DC and Marvel's crossovers.
And George Perez's art on this book was top notch.
Absolutely
