It's never going to happen. If Gordon hasn't snapped and shot the Joker himself by now, he's never going to and isn't going to allow it to happen in front of him. I swear, he's worse than Batman. At least Batman hasn't killed anyone himself...since the 30s or so. Gordon has undoubtedly been in shoot outs and has hit his targets. Pretty much making Gordon a hypocrite.

IMO it would be hypocritical to just single out Joker as if 99% of the rest of the rogues aren't mass murderers or serial killers. It would be like "I'll shoot Ted Bundy in the head but I'll give the Unabomber another chance because he cares about nature and I'll let Jeffrey Dahmer work with me because he feels bad".

Joker is the only one to get Mr. Mxysptlk's powers and nearly destroyed the universe on a lark though.

Ras Al Ghul comes pretty close since he has attempted global genocide several times and would wipe out 90 percent of the human race if he's ever successful.

And Gordon's memories of the Emperor Joker events were erased, so he couldn't use that has a justification anyway.

Also Gordon shooting people in self defense and letting Joker live is not hypocrisy unless Joker is making a direct attack at an armed Gordon. In this case Joker's already unarmed and incapacitated by She-Bane.

I wouldn't call his little attempt at mind games here particularly smart. He says that Vengeance is just killing him because it feels good and for no other reason

To that I would say: What other reason is needed?

He was probably playing mind games because he could see behind her. He was watching Bane and Gordon approach, surely. So he was fairly safe. Old Jimbo wouldn't let Vengeance kill him.

Vengeance killed most of them when she arrived. As for Joker, we didn't see him escape but we did get a few pages of him goading the chef about how he didn't know how to cook him properly.

Yeah the chef is the only person Joker killed. There's a bit right before where Vengeance sees the purple jacket and assumes Joker was already cooked.

Okay, my offhand prediction with zero evidence is that Bane will teach his daughter the true meaning of vengeance, which is that it's best served cold and enacted via long term plots instead of smashing everything. And that's how Joker will get out of this one.
