Unbeknownst to Eggman, Zavok is still alive (albeit barely) and makes his escape. Eggman is rather perturbed by this whole affair: he’s deduced this whole thing wasn’t just Zavok’s plan. He knows someone else is moving against him, but who they are and what exactly they’re planning he can’t say for certain.

Meanwhile, Starline is getting acclimated to his new facility...

Oh Mimic, you really think you can spend the rest of your life off of Eggman's radar, don't you?

That moment with Rough and Tumble is strangely endearing. Then again, I am a sucker for villains having positive bonds with each other.

Eggman isn't a machine, and the first time Whysper takes a shot at him, he's going to remember why she's still around

I’m pretty sure Mimic resurfaced because Eggman hired him on pain of death to off her for her role in undermining his rule in Sonic Forces. Heck, that’s why he had all the Diamond Cutters killed in the first place.

He ever going to hire someone to off himself for his own efforts of undermining his rule? "Let's torture Sonic for months without even crippling him. There's no way he's going to escape and ruin my plans for the umpteenth time!"

In his defence, Sonic only busted out because of the Rookie and he only lost in the long term because of Infinite’s incompetence.

A thing that never would have happened if Sonic was dead. And I think Eggman was the one who dropped the prototype phantom ruby. Without that, the Rookie wouldn't have stopped that second sun.
